Detail:
Bach's St John Passion is surely one of the greatest pieces of oratorio ever written. Dramatic choruses, arias of deep anguish and huge hope, and all the drama of the story, narrated by the Evangelist, with Christ and Pilate, Peter and the crowd interacting throughout, the story has never been so brilliantly or concisely told.
The performance by the Cheltenham Bach Choir will bring this all to life with some of the best young Bach singers in the country as soloists, and the superb Corelli Orchestra conducted by music director David Crown.
Performed in the wonderful setting of Cirencester’s wonderful parish church, this is a concert not to be missed.
