Detail:
Join us as we take a serene musical journey through the monastic day from Matins right through to Compline as part of Abbey 900 Festival celebrating 900 years since the founding of the Augustinian Abbey of St. Mary in Cirencester.
Built around William Byrd's Great Service, a 10-part masterpiece rediscovered in the 1920s, this concert will include works by Byrd's teacher and friend, Thomas Tallis, his German contemporary, Hans Leo Hassler, as well as the Kyrie from Palestrina's stunning Missa Papae Marcelli. We will also be extremely proud, at Terce, to premier a piece written specially for this concert by our very own Jonathan Hope, Nunc sancte nobis Spiritus.
Tickets: Adults £12.50. Students £6.25. Children free. Available from www,saintceciliasingers.org or on the door
