Rooted in primitive art, the Rococo style swept across Europe with varying degrees of restraint that set pulses racing throughout the 18thC - covering art and architecture, design and decoration. The two lecture days will book-end a visit to the Rococo collections in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, with a member of the academic staff, taking in painting, ceramics, miniatures, furniture et al.
