Museum Hosts Animal Safari For Children
Children will be taken on a special safari tour this week at the Corinium Museum as part of a national event to support children and their minders.
The children and their carers will be donning safari style pith helmets and binoculars for an 'animal safari' event around the Cirencester museum on Thursday June 18th, as part of National Childminding Week from June 13th – 20th.
The children and their carers will look for animals amongst the museum treasures and they will also have a go at simple activities such as jigsaws and mosaic making.
The animal safari is part of the museum's newly created programme of activity sessions for the under fives.
Education Officer Rachael Holtom said: “The safari is a great way of introducing young children to the museum and allowing them to find out more about their world.”
The event has been organised in partnership with Karen Cairns, Early Years Officer (Childminding) for Gloucester County Council, as part of the national week-long event that focuses on Childminding and what is available for childminders to do with their children.
The title of this years week is 'Home from Home' and the children will be talking about where the animals they spot in the museum live in real life, as well as seeing how people lived in Roman times.
