Tree-Cycle With The Council This Christmas
Cotswold District Council is dreaming of a cleaner, greener Christmas and urges residents to recycle as much as they can over the festive period – including their real Christmas trees.
The Council has joined forces with Dobbies Garden Centre at Siddington, near Cirencester, and Batsford Arboretum and Garden Centre, near Moreton-in-Marsh, to set up collection points for real Christmas trees which will then be shredded and turned into compost.
Householders can also take their trees to the Household Recycling Centres at Fosse Cross and Horsley or chop them into sections of under 1 foot and put them in their green garden waste wheeled bins if they have subscribed to the collection service.
"We all love Christmas but it’s traditionally a time of year when we all produce much more waste than usual,” said Lead Cabinet Member for the Environment and Communities Cllr Mark Tufnell.
"Hopefully, the residents of the Cotswolds will make a resolution to recycle more than ever this Christmas – including their trees."
Real Christmas trees can be recycled at Dobbies and Batsford Garden Centres until Sunday, 17th January, 2010.
After that date they can still be put in green garden waste wheeled bins (if subscribed to the collection service) or taken to the Household Recycling Centres.
