Cirencester Caravan Club Site Improvements
With more people deciding to holiday in the UK, and sales of caravans at a five year high, The Caravan Club has contracted Swindon-based construction company Beard to improve visitor facilities in Hampshire, Gloucester and Oxfordshire. This forms part of the club’s continuing programme to provide the highest quality network of sites in the UK.

A 16 week project at Rookesbury Park, near Fareham, Hampshire, has provided completely refurbished and extended facilities comprising toilets and wash rooms, showers, laundry and vegetable preparation areas.

This fast turnaround project, completed early and in budget, has been followed by two further projects at Cirencester Park in Gloucestershire, and Burford in Oxfordshire, where Beard’s construction team are currently on site. The three projects have a combined contract value of over £1.5 million.

Andrew Majcher, Development Manager at The Caravan Club explains: “Beard is building extensions and carrying out complete mechanical and electrical refurbishment of toilet facilities at Burford and Cirencester, involving re-wiring, new plumbing, boilers, ventilation and lighting. Beard understands our goal to provide the best possible facilities for our members while minimizing site closures. Quality delivery and a proactive approach to problem solving, ensure a solid working partnership”.

Snow and sub zero temperatures at the start of the year caused slight delays, but the teams are working hard to make up lost time. “These are all fast turnaround projects requiring a slick operation to avoid unnecessary site closures,” explains Beard Project Manager, Peter Aulsberry. “Despite the snow we are committed to making up as much time as we can so that we can hand over in time for the new season, and as negotiated contracts we have been able to provide early input and advice on programming and design to help achieve project goals.”
