Corinium Via Play Area – statement from CDC
There has been considerable media coverage over the last few days regarding the play area at the Corinium Via housing development in Cirencester.
The following statement has been issued by Cotswold District Council to clarify the issue:
"Residents on the Corinium Via development first raised their concerns about the play area in July 2012. Since then CDC councillors and officers have initiated and continued to facilitate discussions between them and the developers, Redrow, to find an acceptable solution to their concerns. While possible options were being discussed and, because final safety inspections had not been done, Redrow fenced off the play area. As the local planning authority, CDC had to approve any changes to the approved plan for the play area. This approval was given on Monday 11 February, and Redrow now intend to move swiftly to implement the changes. Everyone involved, including CDC, is keen to work together to ensure that a safe play area opens as quickly as possible for the enjoyment of the children."
