Classic cinema comes to Cirencester from April

“We have a very smart 72-seater lecture theatre with a large screen and surround sound, and it is also fitted with a hearing loop – it’s the ideal venue for a night out at the cinema"
Isobel Milne, Corinium Museum

Lovers of great classic and contemporary films in Cirencester are in for a big treat from April 2013 when the Corinium Museum launches its exciting second season of monthly Thursday evening films. This feast of movie excellence begins on 11 April with ‘Vertigo’ which is widely regarded as Hitchcock’s finest work. This is followed in May by ‘The Apartment’ starring Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine and then the multi award-winning Life of Pi which is a must see on the big screen. More classics and other more contemporary quality offerings are lined up for film nights in June, July and August.

Commenting on the launch of this new season of films in Cirencester, Isobel Milne, Commercial Services Officer at Corinium Museum, said:
“We have a very smart 72-seater lecture theatre with a large screen and surround sound, and it is also fitted with a hearing loop – it’s the ideal venue for a night out at the cinema, and I am sure that the public will love the film season that we have arranged.”

She continued:
“The Museum already has a Rural Cinema scheme which travels around many venues in the Cotswolds, and this has increased in popularity so much that we now present two film showings over a weekend. We want to build the same loyal following in Cirencester by offering a monthly night out for local film fans.  We are hoping that our second season of films will be a big success.”

Films will start at 7pm and admission costs will be £5.50 for adults and £4.50 for concessions. You can also join a Film Club which offers six films for the price of four. Adult film club prices are £22 per person and concessions are priced at £18 per person.

The full line-up of monthly films is as follows:
Vertigo – Thursday 11th April
The Apartment – Thursday 9th May
Life of Pi – Thursday 13th June
Silver Linings Playbook – Thursday 11th July
Roman Holiday – Thursday 8th August
Rear Window – Thursday 12th September
