Local Budgens retailer Susie Hawkins (Simon Smith Group) in Chesterton Road is celebrating today as the store moves towards 100% British for its own-brand SuperValu fresh meat and poultry.

From today, all Fresh SuperValu beef, chicken, turkey, pork and lamb from the Budgens store in Cirencester will be 100% British, and Red Tractor approved at no extra cost to the shopper.

This is an important day for Budgens store owner Susie Hawkins (Simon Smith Group) of New Quarry Budgens, she comments on the move towards 100% British: “As an independent, local retailer, it’s so important that we can respond to the demands of our local customers. High quality fresh meat is key to most people’s daily shop, so there’s no compromise – they need to know they’re getting the best!

“Budgens Supervalu is our best selling meat and poultry range, so we know our customers will welcome the move towards 100% British. We’re happy that our customers will feel reassured as they feed their families each evening, knowing their meat and poultry is 100% British.”

David Clarke, CEO of Red Tractor comments, “It has arguably never been more important to reassure consumers about where their food comes from. All products holding the Red Tractor logo meet responsible production standards and are traceable from farms to pack. We’re delighted to see Budgens commitment to supporting Red Tractor’s farmers and growers.”
