A417 Crickley Hill Remains Closed Following Fatal Collision

The head-on collision happened at approximately 3.10am and involved a Ford Focus and a heavy goods vehicle.

The A417 at Crickley Hill remains closed from the junction for the A46 following a fatal road traffic collision in the early hours of this morning (Monday November 4).

The head-on collision happened at approximately 3.10am and involved a Ford Focus and a heavy goods vehicle. The Focus had been travelling down the hill and the lorry had been travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Focus, believed to be a 54-year-old man from Cheltenham, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the lorry was not injured in the incident.

The road remains closed in both directions whilst the Highways Agency assess whether it needs to be resurfaced as a result of the collision.

Witnesses to the collision that haven’t yet spoken to the police are asked to call Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident number 29 of November 4.
