Cirencester Parish Church announces two months of FREE organ concerts and a celebrity organ concert

Cirencester Parish Church is delighted to announce that distinguished organist and international recitalist, Leo Abbott will be visiting Cirencester on 2nd July, as part of his latest UK tour. Leo is Director of Music and Organist at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, Boston, USA.

Over his impressive career Leo has won first prize in several international competitions, and was a finalist at the Grand Prix de Chartres. He has performed across Europe, including Notre-Dame and Saint-Sulpice, Paris, and Westminster Cathedral. It is a significant honour that Leo has agreed to stop in Cirencester, as part of his 2016 concert schedule.

Tickets will cost £5 and are available on the door.

Following on from this Cirencester Parish Church will be hosting two months of free organ concerts over July and August.

On Mondays in July (1:10pm – 1:50pm) Director of Music Anthony Hammond will play a series entitled ‘Bach Connections’ – showcasing the music of JS Bach, its inspirations and its influences.

4th July: North German and Italian Influences (Works by Vivaldi, Buxtehude and Bach)
11th July: The Art of the Variation (Works by Pachelbel, Bach and Mendelssohn)
18th July: Come Dancing (Works by Bach, Rheinberger and Reger)
25th July: Bach Reimagined (Works by Liszt and Widor)


On Sundays in August (5pm – 5:45pm) Anthony Hammond will play a series entitled ‘Organ Masters’ – presenting the works of four great composers for the organ.

7th August - César Franck
14th August - Charles-Marie Widor
21st August - Franz Liszt
28th August - Léonce de Saint-Martin


All concerts are at Cirencester Parish Church and are free entry, with a retiring collection.
