Historic Buildings Plaques Project - Cirencester Civic Society

Blue Plaque in Cirencester

The 2000 years of Cirencester's history are reflected in the many ancient buildings and in the changes to them that subsequent generations have wrought.

Through the generosity of the public, and of Cotswold District and Cirencester Town Councils, during 1999 the Civic Society has fixed 34 plaques on buildings of historical or architectural interest (including the one above which can be found on the W.H. Smiths building), of which 27 required Listed Building Consent.

The plaques are listed and shown on the map in the booklet “Cirencester-a town walk”
