Share your skills and make a Difference
Cotswold Volunteers is encouraging local people to get involved in their local community on Saturday 27th October which is national Make a Difference Day, the UK’s biggest single day of volunteering!
This year's make a difference campaign is highlighting the wide variety of skills that people can use to volunteer. From professional talents like web design and accountancy, to personal passions such as gardening, knitting or baking, everyone has a skill they can use to make a difference.
From 10 - 12 everyone is welcome to come along to Bingham House in Dyer Street, Cirencester to take part in our fun taster sessions, discuss volunteering opportunities, and meet community organisations and find out more about what they do, who they serve, what they need and how you can help.
“ I thought volunteering was just about providing care services but was amazed to discover that there are more than 300 organisations in the Cotswolds needing volunteers - you could be doing anything from knitting tea cosies to raising funds, gardening for a neighbour, or writing a newsletter.” says Liz who started volunteering over the summer.
Volunteering is something that everyone can do to make a difference, just by giving a little bit of their time. If you can make a regular commitment that’s great, but you can also sign up for just a day, or even for ten minutes. Cotswold Volunteers are challenging everyone on the 27th to get volunteering by making a Christmas tree decoration and donating it to charity! There will be free demonstrations and expert help on hand and it only take ten minutes!
