New management for Bishops Walk shopping Centre

"We’re working on some key changes which I think shoppers and retailers will love - and hopefully, you’ll begin to see the difference very soon",Spencer Gower, Barnsdales

Bishops Walk to take "a big step forward" with new management

Property consultancy, Barnsdales has been appointed as the new property managers of Bishops Walk Shopping Centre in Cirencester.

Bishops Walk is Cirencester''s only covered shopping centre and is visited by around 5,000 people each day. First opened in 1990, the centre offers 25,000ft² of ground and first floor retail space and serves as a pedestrian link between Brewery Car Park and Cricklade Street.

Consultant Surveyor at Barnsdales, Spencer Gower is to become the new property manager for Bishops Walk, he will also act as joint letting agent and will work closely with owners Padmanor Investments Ltd on the asset management strategy for the centre.

An experienced retail surveyor with over 20 years'' experience, Spencer Gower has supported a wide range of retailers, property owners and landlords in the area - and has been responsible for the development of major retail parks and shopping centres across the UK, including The Valley in Evesham.

The move is part of a new strategy by Bishops Walk’s owners Padmanor Investments Limited which is committed to investing in the shopping centre and reinvigorating the local area.

Property Manager, Spencer Gower said:

"Bishops Walk has a great deal of potential but it’s lost a little of its appeal over the years. Right away, there are many things we can do that would make a big difference to improve the visitor experience and help retailers. Working closely with the owners, we will start working on ideas and plans to make some larger scale changes that will really help Bishops Walk to take a big step forward.

"As the leading property management company in Cirencester we will ensure that we adopt a proactive management approach and work closely with the existing retailers to help achieve a better retail environment. We’re working on some key changes which I think shoppers and retailers will love - and hopefully, you’ll begin to see the difference very soon."
Working on The Valley near Evesham from an early stage, Spencer is credited with transforming the site from a small garden centre to a full 18 unit retail park with top brands and a range of leisure activities.

In addition to being appointed managing agents of Bishops Walk, Barnsdales has also been appointed as joint letting agent alongside Carter Jonas. Spencer Gower said:

"We are also really pleased to be appointed joint letting agents and look forward to working with our National Joint Agents, Carter Jonas in securing new retailers to the scheme with a more targeted approach that fits in with the overall strategy"

Stephen Davies from Pandmanor Investments Ltd, which owns Bishops Walk said:

"Padmanor Investments is delighted to have Barnsdales on board as our new local managing and letting agent for Bishops Walk. Barnsdales will help us to achieve the full potential that this vibrant Shopping Arcade and its many retailers have to offer the people of Cirencester and its many visitors."
