Double Dose of Arty Exhibits On Show This Spring
A talented group of textile artists will showcase their work as part of a month-long exhibition at the Corinium Museum this spring.
The ‘Tangents go Travelling’ exhibition – which will visit the Cirencester museum from Saturday March 20th until Sunday April 18th – is being hosted by the Tangent Textiles group, a small group of enthusiastic artists who regularly work with a wide range of different materials.
Inspiration for this exhibition comes from a variety of actual and theoretical journeys and the artists’ work showcases both urban landscapes and dreamy rural scenes. The group meet regularly to swap ideas and keep in touch with trends in the textile world.
Later this spring, the Corinium Museum will host its first Open Exhibition from Saturday May 8th, and is appealing for local artists to submit up to two pieces of work.
The exhibition will run until June 19th and successful applicants will have their talent displayed in the museum’s Temporary Exhibition Gallery.
A panel of judges – which will include a well known artist – will decide the exhibition’s best pieces of work in a range of categories, including the ‘best work in show’, as well as awards in three age groups: 3yr-9yr, 10yr-13yr and 14yr upwards.
For further details, please read the Entry Regulations before submitting any work. These regulations are available on the Council’s website, at the following URL: http://www.cotswold.gov.uk/nqcontent.cfm?a_id=1298&tt=cotswold#Tangent_Textiles
The form can also be collected from the Corinium Museum’s reception at Park Street, Cirencester. Entrance to the exhibitions is free and the museum is open from Monday – Saturday, 10am-5pm, and on Sunday, 2pm-5pm.
