National Recognition for Corinium Museum

Cirencester’s award-winning Corinium Museum has notched up another success, winning a prestigious customer service award for the fifth year running.

Cotswold District Council’s Corinium museum recently received a coveted Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme (VAQAS) award, which judges attractions on their quality of staff and customer service.

The museum was inspected by a ‘mystery shopper’ from Visit England, who assessed all areas of customer service from initial enquires to departure and, for the fifth year in a row, pronounced that it met very high standards.

Following the visit, the mystery assessor’s report highlighted the staff as one of the museum’s strengths, noting that they were ‘well trained, well presented, helpful and friendly.’

Councillor David Fowles, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Customer Services, said: "I’m delighted that an independent observer has showered praise on the Corinium. The retention of this national award is further evidence of the high quality visitor-focused service that the museum delivers every day.

"The staff and volunteers work extremely hard to make sure the attraction is of the highest standard, and this is reflected in the positive feedback we receive from visitors.

"This endorsement also follows hot on the heels of the Full Accreditation status that was awarded to the museum last year by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council."
