Sunday Times Survey Praises Council Staff
A recent employee-driven nationwide survey has ranked Cotswold District Council as one of the best places to work in the public sector.
A survey commissioned by the Sunday Times to gauge employee satisfaction and engagement in the public sector has rated Cotswold District Council as one of the top 75 places to work.
The Council scored highly in categories such as staff wellbeing, a strong sense of family, and good work-life balance. The Sunday Times also noted the success of social get-togethers and enthusiastic staff support for a range of charities.
The leader of the Council, Lynden Stowe, was very pleased with the result, commenting: "We are only one of two local authorities in the entire south-west region who made it onto this list – a great achievement. The people in this Council are a real joy to work with, and this high score reflects the care and commitment they bring to the job.
"Like all public sector authorities, we are riding out a very tough recession and the positive attitude of our staff has enabled us to make a range of efficiency savings and still maintain vital frontline services. We all know there are more hard times ahead but our employees are holding up very well, buoyed by a passion for their work and the supportive working environment that typifies this Council."
The Council’s Chief Executive, David Neudegg, added: "Having motivated staff is the best way to achieve excellent results, so maintaining a positive workforce during these challenging times is important for us all. We have developed a clear plan on how to tackle the financial challenges ahead, and have a track record of success in delivery. We are now introducing new programmes to ensure that motivation, morale and appreciation of staff is kept firmly on the agenda."
