Get Sporty With Council's Coaching Sessions

Eye-catching sports coaching sessions, designed to get children active and feeling confident, are on offer in the Cotswolds during the Easter holidays, thanks to The Sports Club.

Daily doses of sport coaching are being hosted by a dedicated team, who offer a wide range of sports at different venues for children from 5-16 years old.

The scheme, set up by Cotswold District Council in 2005, offers children a safe and friendly environment to enjoy a variety of sports, including football, cricket, golf, rugby, gymnastics, tennis and many more.

Sessions will run from 9.30 am to 3 pm, and are scheduled at the Council-run leisure centre in Bourton-on-the-Water, Cirencester’s Deer Park School, Bibury Football Club and Rendcomb College.

Scott Burry, Cotswold District Council’s Youth Sport Development Officer said:

"I believe the Sports Club has been a huge success because of the emphasis we place on fun and friendship. The non-competitive coaching sessions allow children to try out all kinds of sports while joining up with school friends and also meeting new people.

"I was very pleased with the quality and success of The Sports Club during February and I am sure it will continue during the Easter holidays."

The Sports Club coaching team are all qualified at various levels of sport coaching, and have First Aid and Child Protection training. Each session costs £15 per day or £10 for members of the Sports Club (membership costs £20 and this is valid until March 31st 2011.) To book a place at any of The Sports Club sessions, please email thesportsclub@cotswold.gov.uk

Beyond Easter, Sports Club sessions have already been scheduled around the District for the rest of this year and into February 2011.

To receive a copy of the 2010-11 brochure, or any other related information, please contact Scott Burry on 01285 623447.
