Sacks delivered across district for kerbside plastic recycling

In preparation for the launch of kerbside mixed rigid plastic collections in the Cotswold district next month, special white sacks for storing the materials have now been distributed to most households. The Council is eager to know whether any residents requiring the recycling sacks have been missed or have experienced any other problems with the distribution of sacks. If you have not received a sack by the end of this week and you haven't already reported it - or if you have experienced any related problems - please contact the Council on 01285 623123.

The Portfolio holder for the Environment Cllr David Fowles commented: “I am confident that most residents who require a white recycling sack will have received one by now or will do in the next day or so. So far I am only aware of a couple of issues with the distribution of the sacks and consider that overall the delivery has gone very well. However, I am realistic that when rolling out a new service across such a large area there may be some isolated problems.”

The new kerbside plastic recycling service begins in the area designated for waste collection purposes as the ‘north’ of the district on the week beginning Monday 8 October. Collections do not start in the ‘south’ sector, however, until the week beginning Monday 29 October so that the Council can review collections in the north and, if necessary, iron out any teething problems. To help things go smoothly, residents who are not quite sure whether their properties are in the ‘north’ or ‘south’ collection areas are being urged to check by either entering their postcode on the Council’s website home page at www.cotswold.gov.uk or by calling 01285 623123.
