The Cotswold Volunteer Centre is moving premises

From Monday 8th October, volunteers will be able to find volunteering information and opportunities at the Local Information Point in historic Bingham House in Cirencester town centre.

This news follows a recent piece of research marking the Cotswolds out as among the best areas in the country for participation in regular volunteering. The Gloucestershire County Council survey ranked Cotswold District volunteers second county-wide, and 18th in the whole country.

The Cotswolds have consistently featured in the top 10% of volunteering districts, and the study further confirms the place of volunteers at the heart of the rural community. This joint initiative with the Town Council will bring our Volunteer Centre into the heart of Cirencester.

Andrew Tubb, Chief Executive Officer for Cirencester Town Council said “we are delighted to be working with Cotswold Volunteers in enhancing our service provision via the Local Information Point at Bingham House.”

Andrew added that it was “important for local residents to be able to come to an easily accessible and central location for information, as a sign post to services and to explore volunteering opportunities.”

The Bingham Library Trust which owns Bingham House is looking towards the property being returned to its original roots, as a community hub, through usage by the Town Council, Cotswold Volunteers, Fair Shares community time bank, Corinium Radio and the Cirencester Community Development Trust.

Jane, CEO of Cotswold Volunteers, said: “Cotswold Volunteers is really looking forward to a closer working relationship with the Town Council. It will be of huge benefit not only to the two organizations but also to the community as a whole.

“It will also give the volunteers a fantastic place to volunteer and access information about local facilities and services.”

As part of this exciting new step, Cotswold Volunteers is looking for volunteers to welcome visitors and provide information at the new centre. If you fancy spending a couple of hours a week meeting people and helping them find the right volunteering opportunity, we'd love to hear from you!
