CDC announces Christmas and New Year waste collection arrangements

"The festive season generates a lot of recyclable waste and I would urge everyone to make full use of our kerbside recycling services"
CDC Waste Manager, Scott Williams

Cotswold District Council’s waste and recycling collection service provider, Ubico Ltd, will not be making collections on the Christmas period Bank Holidays - Tuesday 25, Wednesday 26 December and also Tuesday 01 January.

However, the crews will be working on Saturday 29 December and Saturday 05 and 12 January to catch up and the revised collection schedule will be as follows:

December 2012:

Monday 24 December 2012 - Collections as normal
Tuesday 25 December 2012 - Christmas day Holiday (no collections)
Wednesday 26 December 2012 - Boxing day Holiday (no collections)
Thursday 27 December 2012 - Collections for 25 December
Friday 28 December 2012 - Collections for 26 December
Saturday 29 December 2012 - Collections for 27 December
Sunday 30 December 2012 - No collections
Monday 31 December 2012 - Collections for 28 December

January 2013:

Tuesday 01 January 2013 - New Year Holiday (no collections)
Wednesday 02 January 2013 - Collections for 31 December
Thursday 03 January 2013 - Collections for 01 January

Tuesday 08 January 2013 - Collections for 07 January
Wednesday 09 January 2013 - Collections for 08 January
Thursday 10 January 2013 - Collections for 09 January
Friday 11 January 2013 - Collections for 10 January
Saturday 12 January 2013 - Collections for 11 January
Sunday 13 January 2013 - No collections

Commenting on the changes, CDC Waste Manager Scott Williams said:
“We are hoping that the temporary alterations to the normal schedule will not disrupt households too much. Essentially, after ‘collections as normal’ on Monday 24 December, things will be slightly out of kilter until Saturday 12 January and then everything will be back to normal again for the week beginning Monday 14 January.”

He continued:
“The festive season generates a lot of recyclable waste and I would urge everyone to make full use of our kerbside recycling services – including the new mixed rigid plastics collections – as well as the recycling facilities in locations across the district. Nevertheless, we realise that the amounts of non-recyclable waste are also greater during this busy time and we will be allowing a ‘side waste amnesty’ for every household’s first full collection after Christmas Day. This will allow residents to leave out additional amounts of non-recyclable waste in bin liners next to their grey wheeled bin/beige refuse bags on their temporarily revised first collection after Christmas Day and everything will be collected. Please ensure that all containers are placed at the kerb by 7:00am on the revised day of collection.”
