Don't forget to use your vote on polling day!

A total of 53 Councillors are to be elected, eight of whom will represent the people of Cotswold District

Residents are being encouraged to use their vote in the County Council Elections that are taking place across Gloucestershire on Thursday 2nd May 2013. A total of 53 Councillors are to be elected, eight of whom will represent the people of Cotswold District.

Postal Votes
If you have one and have not voted yet, it''s not too late - but you must get it to your local Deputy Returning Officer by 10 pm on Thursday:

* You could post it by Wednesday 1st May - although delivery is not guaranteed, we do try to capture every vote in the postal system by arranging for Royal Mail ''sweeps'' at sorting offices on the evening of Thursday 2nd May;
* You can hand deliver it to any polling station in your Electoral Division up to 10 pm on Thursday 2nd May;
* You can hand it in at the District Council Offices in Cirencester up to 10 pm on Thursday 2nd May.

If you have a postal vote, you cannot vote at a polling station.

Voting in Person
Polling stations will be open from 7 am to 10 pm. Your polling card gives the address of your polling station. While it is helpful to take your polling card with you to the polling station, you do not need your card to vote.

How to Vote
Your ballot paper will list the names and details of the candidates. You can only vote for one candidate, so put either a cross or a tick in the column next to the candidate of your choice.

Results
The votes will be counted immediately after the close of poll. The Count Centre for the eight electoral divisions within the Cotswold District is the Cotswold Leisure Centre in Cirencester. Results will be posted on www.cotswold.gov.uk as soon as possible after declaration. Full results/details, covering the whole County, will be available on www.gloucestershire.gov.uk
