New refurbished luxury hotel to open in Cirencester in March 2014

“We are passionate about all the projects we take on board, but the King’s Head is a little bit special; it’s in a great location and has some stunning architectural features"
Andrew McKenzie, Managing Director of The Vineyard Group

West Berkshire hotel operator, The Vineyard Group, is excited to announce plans to re-open the historic King’s Head Hotel in the heart of Cirencester town centre at the beginning of March 2014.

Closed for redevelopment in 2007, the King’s Head will re-open as a modern, elegant hotel offering 45 stylish bedrooms, an exceptional wine list and an all day dining option offering the very best of modern British food.

The entire hotel has been undergoing an extensive restoration programme to address decades of neglect to the historic fabric, including extensive archaeological excavation in the cellars. Final fit-out works will shortly commence, including the 45 bedrooms, which will all be individual designed keeping the character of the grade II listed building. There are also plans for a subterranean spa with a number of treatment rooms for the enjoyment of both residential and local guests.

The King’s Head redevelopment will also see the completion of the ancillary facilities to the adjoining Corn Hall, which currently hosts a variety of weekly markets.

Andrew McKenzie, Managing Director of The Vineyard Group, who owns the five star Vineyard hotel near Newbury, and who will manage the King’s Head hotel on behalf of Wildmoor, said: “We are passionate about all the projects we take on board, but the King’s Head is a little bit special; it’s in a great location and has some stunning architectural features. It will be exciting to see this historical gem rejuvenated to become part of the social fabric of Cirencester.”

A spokesperson for owners Wildmoor said: “We are delighted that Peter Brunt from Colliers International introduced us to the multi-award winning Vineyard Group, who have such a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. Under their management, we believe the King’s Head will become a stylish and vibrant addition to this prime part of Cirencester, whilst retaining the essence of the building’s historic past.”
