Suited, booted and [ready to be] recruited

“The ultimate outcome for this course is to get every learner work-ready and a bonus would be them securing a permanent job at the end with Kings Head Hotel, or at least start that dream job soon after.”

If you’re unemployed and live in Cirencester, a free course held at Bromford’s office on Tetbury Road could see you kicking off your new career in just two weeks.

Taking place from 22 April to 2 May, Bromford have teamed up with South Gloucestershire and Stroud (SGS) college to run Cirencester’s first ‘Suited, Booted and Recruited” course.

Through the intensive fast-track training, the social business is hoping to equip unemployed people with the skills and attributes they need to make them more attractive to employers.

Then on 2 May, the Kings Head Hotel will be attending the final session to conduct ‘mock’ interviews. Attendees who ‘wow’ the interviewers could even nab themselves one of 67 new employment opportunities in the recently refurbished boutique hotel.

Open to all (whether you’re a Bromford customer or not), learners will walk away with three nationally recognised qualifications covering first aid, customer service and employability.

These qualifications will put job seekers head and shoulders above other applicants and will mean they can update their CV with:

NCFE Entry level three Certificate in Exploring Employability Skills
City and Guilds Entry level three Certificate in Introduction to Customer Service
Qualified First Aider
The course won’t stop there either, with top tips on CV writing, interview techniques, presentation skills and how best to sell yourself. Lunch is also supplied every day, free of charge.

Alison Hammond, aged 52 of Querns Lane is looking to make the jump into administration after previously working in retail and catering.

“I’ve been out of work for a few months but am really eager to find myself a new job. I’ve been keeping myself busy by attending a computing course and am volunteering as a receptionist for Cirencester Town Council”

“I found out about ‘Suited, Booted and Recruited’ after visiting Bromford’s job club at the Cirencester library and am really excited about getting involved. First aid is always good to have, and the customer service qualification will definitely help me with the more office-based jobs I’m interested in, but the chance to learn interview techniques and meet new people makes the course even better.

“It’ll be great to be interviewed by an employer who has lots of job opportunities available, and hopefully this course combined with my volunteering should secure me a job in no time.”

As Bromford’s skills coach Clare Bartlett explains, it’s also about looking the part when it comes to searching for the next step up on the career ladder.

She said; “SGS College want to ensure they cover everything in the two weeks, and that includes showing your potential employer you mean business through the way you dress. Learners will be taken on a shopping trip, where they will be able to choose a new suit, and best of all, SGS will be picking up the tab!

“The ultimate outcome for this course is to get every learner work-ready and a bonus would be them securing a permanent job at the end with Kings Head Hotel, or at least start that dream job soon after.”

With a total of only 14 spaces left, anyone interested needs to get in touch soon as possible. To grab yourself a place, call 0800 056 6940.
