Police bike security roadshow continues

"“I would urge people to brink their bikes along to the Market Place in Cirencester on Friday between 9am - 4pm on 22nd August"

The police bicycle security roadshow continues today (Tuesday 19 August) in Tetbury and tomorrow (Wednesday 20 August) in Tewkesbury. These will be followed by events in Cirencester of 22 August and Stroud on 30 August.

Commenting on the success of the Roadshow to date, Police Harm Reduction Advisor Kim Mowday said:

“The campaign is proving extremely popular. We have so far taken the roadshow to Cheltenham, Gloucester and Coleford and hundreds of people have come along to talk to us, get their bikes security marked , buy industry-approved bike locks, and catch up on security tips. As a result, hopefully a lot of bikes won’t be stolen that might otherwise have been.

“I would urge people to brink their bikes along to the Tesco Car Park Tetbury today from 10 am to 3 pm, the Cascades Swimming Pool Car Park Tewkesbury tomorrow between 9 am - 3.30 pm, and the Market Place in Cirencester on Friday between 9 am - 4 pm.

"Our final event will be in Stratford Park, Stroud on 30 August between 8 am - 3 pm."

With the summer at its height, Gloucestershire’s cyclists have taken to the road in their hundreds, making the best of the warm weather. But bike thieves are also on the move, targeting unsecured bikes as an easy target.

To combat this, Gloucestershire Police and key county stakeholders launched the all-out drive to encourage bike security awareness.

The on-going programme is as follows:

Tuesday 19 August: 10 am – 3 pm Tesco car park, Tetbury
Wednesday 20 August: 9 am – 3.30 pm Cascades Swimming Pool car park, Tewkesbury
Friday 22 August: 9 am – 4 pm Market Place, Cirencester
Saturday 30 August 8 am – 3 pm Allsorts Bike Ride and Family Festival, Stratford Park, Stroud
