Cotswold-based Chartered Accountancy firm, McGills has announced the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity as its Charity of the Year.

The firm, which has offices in Cirencester and Malmesbury, will be raising funds for the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity with a series of fundraising activities set to be revealed over the coming months.

This is the first time McGills has nominated a Charity of the Year and the initiative is timed to coincide with the firm’s 50th anniversary celebrations in June.

Great Western Air Ambulance Charity provides an air ambulance service for Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, North Somerset and parts of Wiltshire.

It cares for a population of over 2.1 million people but does not receive any day to day government or National Lottery funding.

Simon Nuttall, Partner at McGills said: “We’re delighted to announce Great Western Air Ambulance Charity as our inaugural Charity of the Year.

“The difference they make to local people is nothing short of incredible – often being the difference between life and death. But with £2.3 million needed each year to keep the Great Western Air Ambulance flying, fundraising is vital.

“I know local people will be keen to get involved with all the exciting fundraising activities McGills will be revealing in the coming months as part of our ongoing commitment to the local community.”

Emma Carter, Head of Fundraising and Marketing at the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity added: “We’re so grateful to McGills for choosing us as their charity of the year. We rely on the people we serve to help us raise the £2.3 million we need each year to stay operational. The money raised will help us to provide critical care to those who need it the most – saving more lives.”
