Black Jack Street Launch Party Weekend

To celebrate the completion of the various improvement works and pedestrianization of our street, the shops, traders and residents of Black Jack Street are hosting a party over the weekend of July 9th and 10th, featuring, amongst all the usual attractions of our beautiful street, a charity tombola, the Mayor's official opening, live music, art sales, free tastings, local product launches and the introduction of a unique loyalty scheme.

We invite you all to enjoy the fun and help us celebrate our unique, historic and now much prettier street!

PROVISIONAL EVENTS and TIMINGS FOR SATURDAY JULY 9TH

The Mayor of Cirencester will cut the ribbon at 12:30 officially opening the new-look, beautified and historic Black Jack Street.
We expect representatives of the local media including the Wilts and Glos Standard to record this grand occasion . . .

The Music Man will be encouraging our young visitors to sing and play while he performs his inimitable brand of slapstick and magic tricks. His puppetry is bound to bring a smile and more, while his storytelling will have the youngsters spellbound, allowing Mum and Dad to browse the street at leisure. The Music Man will be performing two half-hour sets from 1pm and 2pm - not to be missed . . .

Lick the Spoon will be launching their new range of ice cream sundaes while offering free tasters of Benson's Fruit Juices, tastings of Sherston's Teas and Mendip Moments Ice Cream who'll be playing a big part in the shop's new range of Ice Cream Sundaes, plus strawberries and cream and the launch of the chocolatier's aS'mores range.
Plus live music from Ben Hewlitt and friends who'll be joining with the Jack Russell Band late in the day . . .

At Octavia's Bookshop, children's author Lauren St John will be signing copies of her new book 'Kidnap in the Caribbean' at 11am . . .

Cameo in Cowley House Yard will be offering discounts across the board on its range of designer handbags and accessories . . .

Table Eight on Black Jack Street are donating 10% of profits on the day to the Macmillan Cancer Relief charity, and the shop will also be hosting an in-house raffle for great designer prizes . . .

Jesse Smith Butchers will be firing up their famous sausage sizzler serving delicious own-recipe bangers and more . . .

Blades Cafe in Cowley House Yard will be offering tasters of their delicious cakes and quiches etc. . . .

Pick a Pot in Cowley House Yard will be holding a free raffle for Pick a Pot gift vouchers . . .

And there will be a Grand Tombola with loads of great prizes donated by businesses in the street, plus a Charity Auction featuring even more free gifts and voucher from Black Jack Street traders and businesses - all proceeds to local charities including:
Oak and Furrows Wildlife Centre, Somerford Keynes (Grand Tombola), and Tackels Animal Sanctuary based in Gloucester (Raffle)

Local suppliers including Winstone's Ice Cream and New Wave Seafood will be offering tasters of their products together with original recipes and menu suggestions at The Golden Cross Inn, where the pub will be serving up its unique Saturday brunch menu for hungry visitors, while it'll be Pimms o'clock at various times throughout the afternoon and evening with special offers on Pimms (2-4-1) plus various cocktails at special prices . . .

Masthead Art will be hosting a non-maritime art sale with original paintings starting at £5, together with its usual fare of collectible maritime works . . .

Although not strictly BlackJackonians, Jack Russell Clothing is proud to announce that the The Jack Russell Band will be in residence and will be mobile, hopefully getting down to the street - weather permitting . . .

Colburn and Grant cheesemonger and cafe will be hosting a launch party where visitors will be able to enjoy a range of delicious food, party balloons and live music from Sian Chandler and Ray Hughes who'll be bringing their unique blend of soulful vocals and sublime guitars to the Templar Mews cafe and shop . . .

Lick the Spoon will be serving their new range of Ice Cream Sundaes featuring Mendip Moments Ice Cream . . .

The Golden Cross Inn will be serving its famous Sunday roast menu featuring local beef, Old Spot pork and lamb together with a full menu of other locally-sourced and creatively-inspired dishes, while in the afternoon the garden beckons . . .
