Cirencester's Corinium Museum has won a Silver Award in the Small Visitor Attraction category at the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2013 Ceremony.

The Silver Award is one of the highest accolades for Excellence in Tourism which VisitEngland can bestow. Corinium Museum’s Curator Amanda Hart and Commercial Services Officer Isobel Milne were presented with the Silver Award by Viscountess Cobham, Chair of VisitEngland at a glittering ceremony which was held on Monday 20 May 2013 at The Point, Lancashire County Cricket Club, Old Trafford, Manchester.

Commenting on the Corinium’s award, James Berresford, VisitEngland’s Chief Executive said:
"The quality of the 320 applications we received this year was extremely high. Winning Silver is therefore a considerable achievement, and I warmly congratulate the museum."

Sue Gill, on behalf of Welcome to Excellence, said:
“Welcome to Excellence is delighted to sponsor the ‘Small Visitor Attraction of the Year Award’ because we have a passion for great customer service and we believe these attractions exemplify exceptional rather than acceptable standards of service. Congratulations to Corinium Museum who are worthy winners and we wish them continued success.”

The museum also received the runner up award for ‘Outstanding Innovation of the Year’ at the Cirencester Business Awards at the Royal Agricultural University on Friday 17th May for the new Museum’s Romans App developed by local business TapMob.

Speaking on behalf of the Corinium Museum, Curator Amanda Hart said:
“We are delighted to have won this national VisitEngland award for the museum and we are also very pleased to have received local recognition for our forward-thinking work with digital media. This is an exciting time for the Corinium Museum and it is great to receive recognition for the hard work of the museum team.”
