Three students with disabilities from Gloucestershire's Star College have been challenged to each cook a dish in a bid to become the Star Cook in a competition being staged by Cirencester's Le Beaujolais French restaurant on June 27.

The three male students, who are being taught lifestyle skills at Star College, are Alex Chant, Jasper Farrow-Cummings and Liam Jones.

One will prepare a starter, another a main course and the third a pudding. They will be judged on taste, marriage of ingredients, colour, plate cleanliness and presentation by head chef Eric Lepine.

The compere will be Star student Abbey Joe (19), who has spent study time at Le Beaujolais and is currently employed as a part time waitress following the expertise she showed while gaining her insight into the business.

The evening will feature a three course dinner at £16.95, with a portion of each ticket being donated by Eric and his partner Kiean Glynn to a collection and raffle on the evening for the college.

Public Relations and Marketing Adviser Robin Thompson said:" We are thrilled the way this challenge has worked especially as it will demonstrate how hard the Star College students and the staff work hard to provide with the best futures.

"We hope local businesses will help us with raffle prizes so that we can make a significant contribution to this exceptional college".

Tickets and offers of prizes should be discussion with Kiean Glynn on 01285 644440.
